First things first: make sure you read the instructions that come with your sex toys. Some toys may have special care instructions that differ from the general tips below. Also: use the right lube! Silicone lube can degrade some silicone toys, so we recommend using a water- or aloe-based lube with your favorite vibes and plugs. Save the oil- or silicone-based lubes for glass, metal, or smooth wood toys.

Cleaning Your Sex Toys

1. Wash Your Toys After Each Use

It’s important that you wash your toys after every use. This will help prevent the buildup of bacteria and keep them safe for your future use. Use a mild soap and warm water to clean your toys. Make sure you’re cleaning all areas of the toy, including any crevices.

2. Use An Antibacterial Toy Cleaner

If you want to be extra cautious, you can use an antibacterial toy cleaner. These cleaners are specifically designed for sex toys and will help kill any bacteria that may be lurking on your toys. Just make sure to read the instructions carefully before using them.

3. Don’t Submerge All Toys In Water

Not all sex toys are waterproof. Before you submerge your toy in water, make sure you check the instructions. If your toy isn’t waterproof, use a damp cloth to clean it instead.

4. Avoid Using Harsh Chemicals

It’s important for you to avoid using harsh chemicals on your sex toys, as they can damage the toy and irritate your skin. Stick to mild soaps and toy cleaners to keep your toys in good condition.

5. Dry Your Toys Thoroughly

After cleaning your toys, make sure you dry them thoroughly. Any remaining moisture can lead to bacterial growth. You can either air dry your toys or use a clean towel to dry them off.

Storing Your Sex Toys

1. Keep Your Toys In a Clean, Dry Place

It’s important that you store your sex toys in a clean, dry place. Avoid storing them in a damp area, as this can lead to mold growth. You can store your toys in a drawer, a toy bag, or a storage container.

2. Use a Toy Bag

Using a toy bag is a great way to store your toys. The soft bags that often come with toys are specifically designed to keep them clean and free from dust. This will help prevent any damage from multiple toys rubbing together.

3. Avoid Storing Toys in Direct Sunlight

Direct sunlight can damage sex toys, so it’s important for you to avoid storing them in direct sunlight. If you have toys you like to keep on display, make sure they’re in a shaded area.

The Bottom Line

Taking care of your sex toys is important for your health and safety, as well as the health of your partners. Make sure you’re cleaning your toys after every use and storing them in a clean, dry place. B

Remember, taking care of your toys can also help prolong their lifespan, which means you’ll get more use out of them.

Now, whether to switch out toys when you get a new partner…that depends on you, your partner, and whether you believe strap can be cursed.
